Showcase: Billie Supernatural (GR)
May 8 - 10:50 pm - 11:15 pm
Billie Supernatural (Vasiliki Malli) is a self-taught musician, songwriter, and composer, starting her musical journey at the age of 15. With studies in Chemical Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Fashion Design, she effortlessly moves between science and art, bringing something fresh to the underground scene of the city. She masterfully blends beloved musical influences, delivering raw, truth-laden rhymes and lyrics that emerge unexpectedly from another era. Her style embodies the romanticism of an avant-garde rembetissa, blending traditional influences with a contemporary twist and speaking boldly about what others remain silent on.
Beyond music, Billie also oversees pre-production, production supervision, poster design, costumes, styling, directing, and editing for all her video clips.
Her debut album, San Kyria (2018), was recorded in an Athens basement, fusing rawness with deep emotion. Collaborating with artists from the hip-hop scene (“Olo Souronan” – feat. Taki Tsan) and (“My Man My Gun and I” – feat. Nikitas Klint), as well as the psych-reggae scene (“Fevgoume Choria” – feat. Mario Daveli from Fundracar), Billie stands against all forms of oppression, celebrating authenticity and individuality.
Her latest album, Dharma, introduces a surreal nu-disco aesthetic with cyberpunk vibes, satirizing ’90s nostalgia. With an impressive fusion of disco punk, synth wave, and drum and bass, Billie guides us into a world full of symbolism, where her three personas—past, present, and future—engage in a dialogue on self-awareness.
