Showcase: Drums & Voice Jazztronica Duet (GR)

May 8 - 10:10 pm - 10:35 pm

In February 2014, the drummer and composer Ilias Doumanis and vocalist and researcher Aggeliki Toubanaki created the nu-jazz project Drums & Voice Jazztronica Duet.
With the specially designed electronic drums set, digital percussion sounds, effects, samples and real time loops, the two musicians arrange forms, harmonize and compose.
The same time they deconstruct the usual role of the two instruments, moving from the natural sound of percussion and vocalizations to the polymorphic dimension of electronic music.
Their concerts create an unprecedented audio-visual experience for the audience.

Their original compositions are characterized by polyrhythmic sequences and extended vocals, multicultural influences and improvisational interaction, resulting in a multidimensional synesthetic sound environment; the original lyrics state their position on the social, political and moral conditions of our world.
